Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reynaldo Zamarripa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hugh Honey!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Honey bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Zamarripa's head backwards.
Honey connects with a crisp jab.
Zamarripa fails with the takedown
and Honey counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Zamarripa shoots in for a double leg but Honey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Zamarripa has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reynaldo Zamarripa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Honey lands with a nice body punch.
Honey stuffs the takedown attempt from Zamarripa. Zamarripa gets slowly back to his feet.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Honey!
Zamarripa is rocked!
Honey dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Honey throws a quick inside leg kick.

Zamarripa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Honey but Honey pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Oh Zamarripa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Zamarripa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Honey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zamarripa somewhat.
Reynaldo Zamarripa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zamarripa is breathing heavily.
Nice sprawl there from Honey as Zamarripa shoots in.
Zamarripa seems to have got his legs back now.

Zamarripa misses with a takedown attempt
letting Honey counter with a right hand.
Honey feints and then cracks Zamarripa's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Zamarripa down.
Zamarripa shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Honey throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Zamarripa colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Honey as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Zamarripa is left battered and dazed whilst Honey and his camp cheer!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hugh Honey!
During a confident post fight interview, Hugh Honey thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
