Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ray Malenko (ranked 2370 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Paddy (ranked 2207 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paddy tries to clinch but Malenko is having none of it.
Paddy misses with an uppercut. Malenko saw that one coming.
Malenko throws a shot from downtown. Paddy moves away and avoids it.
Malenko connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
A low kick from Paddy is predictable there
and Malenko counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Paddy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Malenko.

Paddy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Malenko looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ray Malenko will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Malenko dips to his left and cracks Paddy with an uppercut!
Max Paddy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malenko throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Paddy sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Paddy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Paddy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Malenko stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Malenko is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

A quick step to the side and Malenko tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Malenko takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Malenko seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Malenko is pushing Paddy up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Malenko turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Malenko manages to end up in side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A relieved looking Ray Malenko thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
