The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
La Croix takes a swing at Van Rooy's ribcage but misses.
La Croix has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

La Croix dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Van Rooy. That did some damage!

La Croix cracks Van Rooy with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Van Rooy is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Van Rooy is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!
Van Rooy has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
La Croix lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
La Croix buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Van Rooy walks into a straight right hand and goes down! La Croix rushes to a neutral corner so the count doesn't get delayed but Van Rooy has made it back to his feet on 5. He's OK so we're back to the action.

La Croix throws a body punch but Van Rooy moves out of range.

La Croix sets himself, and Van Rooy steps forward looking for the clinch! La Croix avoids it this time.
La Croix is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

That has opened up Albert Van Rooy's cut even more.

La Croix fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Van Rooy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
La Croix feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Van Rooy's calf.

La Croix connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Van Rooy out cold! This one is over in a flash!

An out of breath Nero La Croix thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
