PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Garvan O Griofa (ranked 5184 p4p, 435 weight class) and Arlind Abazaj (ranked 6110 p4p, 472 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Griofa misses with a head kick.
Abazaj throws a shot from downtown. O Griofa moves away and avoids it.
As Abazaj looks to move away, O Griofa throws a big counter combo but Abazaj just gets out of the way.
Abazaj ducks under a wild hook from O Griofa.
Abazaj shapes to counter with a head kick.
Abazaj misses with a body kick.

O Griofa moves into the clinch successfully.
Abazaj on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Abazaj wants to break free but O Griofa has control.

Abazaj pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Abazaj pivots, looking for a leg kick but O Griofa is out of range and Abazaj settles back down.
Abazaj throws out a loose jab but O Griofa uses good head movement to avoid it.
Abazaj has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

O Griofa cracks Abazaj with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

It looks like Arlind Abazaj has been cut.
O Griofa seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

O Griofa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

Abazaj is trying to break free.
Abazaj lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt O Griofa or not.
O Griofa pushes Abazaj back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Abazaj breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Abazaj lands the left hand.
O Griofa tries to bum rush Abazaj with a series of wild strikes but Abazaj uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
O Griofa looks to throw the jab but Abazaj is out of range.

O Griofa clips Abazaj with a right and a left that makes him do the chicken dance for a couple of seconds. He touched his left hand down on the canvas so the referee steps between the fighters to give Abazaj a standing 8 count before we can continue the bout.
