Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Wells!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva closes the distance and clinches.
Wells is trying to maintain a safe position but Silva gets an underhook and turns Wells into the cage.
Silva lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Silva lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Wells avoids the elbow strike from Silva, against the cage.
Wells wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Silva has him pressed against the cage.
Silva lands an elbow just above Wells 's eye.

Wells manages to break the clinch.
Silva fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Silva keeps the fight on the outside.
As Wells looks to move away, Silva throws a big counter combo but Wells just gets out of the way.
Felipe Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva misses with the combination.
Wells has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Wells shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wells was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva is looking to regain half guard here but Wells keeps moving and retains side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Wells.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva parries the strikes from Wells easily there. Wells is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Silva to escape.
Wells tries to move to full mount but Silva actually manages to regain half guard.
Wells with the ground and pound but Silva uses the opportunity to regain guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wells accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Silva looking for a triangle here. Wells is fighting it but it looks tight! Silva pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Wells is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Felipe Silva!
Felipe Silva was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
