Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Richard!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richard swings away with a body shot that misses
and Roy counters with a nice uppercut.
Richard throws a right hand that Roy ducks under and follows up with a left that Roy also avoids with ease.
Richard misses with a series of wild punches.
Richard throws a body shot but no joy.
Roy was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Richard drives through and clinches with Roy against the cage.
Roy can't get the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Richard gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Roy.

Roy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Roy clinches.

Richard jumps into guard, dragging Roy to the mat.
Roy wants to stand but Richard is controlling his posture from full guard.
Roy throws a big right hand that misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roy postures up in Richard's guard and throws a big left but Richard blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Richard is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Richard can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Richard closes the distance and clinches.

Roy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Richard throws a series of punches but Roy moves out of range.
Roy swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Roy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Richard throws a jab but it's blocked by Roy.

Roy takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Roy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Richard wants to improve his position but instead Roy has moved into half guard.

Richard closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Roy quickly recovers to half guard.

Matt Richard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Roy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Richard is defended easily by Roy.
Roy tries to clinch up but Richard circles away and keeps his distance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

A little feinted left hand from Roy on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Richard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Roy gets back to full guard.
Richard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Richard Roy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Matt Richard is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Richard stands up out of Roy's guard for a moment - Roy manages to land a nice upkick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Matt Richard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Richard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
