Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Christopher Holmes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pierre Lafleur!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lafleur throws a nice looking combination but Holmes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lafleur tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Holmes paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lafleur shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Holmes's guard.

Holmes manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Holmes moves forwards but Lafleur connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Holmes is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lafleur is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Holmes to the mat. Holmes regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Holmes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lafleur sees it coming and defends easily.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lafleur lands a hook that snaps the head of Holmes backwards.

Lafleur wants to stand and escape but Holmes is having none of it.

Lafleur has hold of one of Holmes's legs. Holmes is fighting the takedown attempt but Lafleur gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Holmes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lafleur manages to get himself to full guard.

Lafleur is looking to get back to is feet but Holmes passes into side control.

Holmes is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Lafleur's shoulder. That is not cool.
Holmes prevents Lafleur from escaping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holmes cracks Lafleur with a big elbow.
Holmes scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lafleur to see if he's OK.
Lafleur wants to get back to his feet but Holmes drags him back down.

Holmes stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lafleur tries to clinch up but Holmes circles away and keeps his distance.
Holmes is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Lafleur looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Holmes!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lafleur thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Holmes's head.
Lafleur not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lafleur thows a huge punch but Holmes dodges it nicely.
Holmes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Holmes.
Lafleur postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Holmes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Holmes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lafleur is breathing heavily.
Holmes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lafleur manages to get himself to full guard.

Holmes working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lafleur's head.
Lafleur wants to stand but Holmes is controlling the position.

Holmes stands and steps away. Lafleur gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lafleur closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Lafleur stops a takedown attempt from Holmes.
Holmes keeps control of Lafleur as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Lafleur has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Holmes regains guard immediately.

Holmes manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Lafleur breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A nice combination there by Lafleur.

Holmes throws a big counter combination but Lafleur scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Lafleur bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Holmes is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Holmes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Holmes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Christopher Holmes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Holmes slips a nice elbow through Lafleur's hands, connecting with Lafleur's forehead.

Holmes winds up and cracks Lafleur with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Holmes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Holmes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That was a close second round but I would say that Christopher Holmes will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

It looked like Holmes was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Lafleur feints and as Holmes raises his hands in defense, Lafleur changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Holmes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Holmes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lafleur pushes Holmes away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Holmes gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Lafleur is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Holmes asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Holmes wants to control but Lafleur is keeping him busy.
Holmes connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lafleur some visible discomfort.
Lafleur tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Holmes cracks Lafleur with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Lafleur from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Holmes is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Lafleur is trying to get back to his feet but Holmes has full control of the position and if anything, Lafleur has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Lafleur is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Holmes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Holmes's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Holmes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
