The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyson darts in and clinches Mccarthy up against the cage.
Tyson is trying to pull guard but Mccarthy has him pressed against the cage.
Tyson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Mccarthy stops a takedown attempt from Tyson.

Roberto Mccarthy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Tyson.

Tyson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mccarthy uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mccarthy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tyson defends it easily.
Tyson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tyson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Tyson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mccarthy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tyson has Mccarthy in his guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mccarthy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mccarthy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Tyson bucks Mccarthy off and manages to get back to his feet!

Mccarthy has closed the distance and engaged Tyson in a clinch.
Tyson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Tyson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mccarthy gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Mccarthy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tyson walks away with a smile on his face. Mccarthy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Roberto Mccarthy will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Tyson shoots in for a double leg but Mccarthy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tyson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mccarthy but Mccarthy pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tyson is pressed up against the cage. Mccarthy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tyson down to the mat. Tyson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
