Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Alcantara (ranked 2756 p4p, 299 weight class) and Sam Samuelson (ranked 1379 p4p, 175 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alcantara closes the distance and clinches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Alcantara creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Samuelson jumps guard but Alcantara turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Alcantara lands a nice elbow.
Samuelson tries to pull guard but Alcantara holds him up against the cage and eventually Samuelson drops back down to his feet.

Samuelson has his foot on Alcantara's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alcantara works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alcantara has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Samuelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alcantara gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Samuelson is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Alcantara rolls with it to try and escape but Samuelson cranks on the arm and Alcantara is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
