Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hoyt Obrien (ranked 23557 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Dregan (ranked 3229 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronald Dregan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hoyt Obrien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronald Dregan!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dregan checks a low kick from Obrien.

Dregan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Obrien is looking to improve his position.
Obrien is working hard here to advance position.
Obrien is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dregan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dregan's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Obrien is hanging on to Dregan's back as he tries to escape.

Dregan is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dregan is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Obrien gets his way!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Dregan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dregan has Obrien pushed against the cage.
Obrien swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Dregan lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Obrien backwards.
Obrien changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dregan fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Obrien tries to keep at a distance but Dregan has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dregan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Obrien is trying to keep an underhook but Dregan manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Obrien has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dregan is working away from the top position though.

Obrien is looking for a sweep. Dregan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Obrien will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Dregan prevents Obrien from getting a body triangle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Obrien has good solid back control here.
Dregan trying to control but not successfully.

Obrien controlling well, preventing Dregan from escaping the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hoyt Obrien will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Obrien throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dregan looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Obrien tries to bum rush Dregan with a series of wild strikes but Dregan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dregan misses with an uppercut.

Dregan has managed to clinch.
Obrien can't find room to land a body shot as Dregan controls the action.
Obrien tries a knee to the head but Dregan blocks it.
Obrien misses with a punch on the inside.
Obrien trying to land knees to the body.

Dregan is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Obrien is defending well for now.

Dregan gets through Obrien's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Dregan is trying to trip Obrien. He has hold of a leg but Obrien is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dregan persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Dregan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dregan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Obrien swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Obrien is adopting a defensive guard.
Dregan wants to control from the top but Obrien keeps moving.

Obrien throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dregan moves into range and clinches up with Obrien.
Obrien tries to land a knee to the head but Dregan blocks with his arms.
Obrien changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dregan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ronald Dregan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dregan pushes Obrien up against the cage in a clinch.

Stalling in the clinch from Dregan.
Dregan stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Obrien has a couple of punches blocked by Dregan.
Dregan manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Obrien throws a knee to the head but misses.
Obrien managing to block the knees to the body from Dregan.
Obrien jumps guard but Dregan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Dregan on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Dregan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Dregan preventing the sweep.
Obrien keeping moving, preventing Dregan from controlling successfully.
Dregan passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Dregan wants to control but Obrien is keeping him busy.
Obrien regains half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Obrien tries to roll over but Dregan keeps him under control.
Ronald Dregan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hoyt Obrien is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Dregan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Obrien's head.

I think Obrien has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
