PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kamen Kamenov (ranked 3427 p4p, 123 weight class) and Rodimus Prime (ranked 3180 p4p, 114 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kamen Kamenov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rodimus Prime!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamenov shoots in for a double leg but Prime sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Prime gets a double leg takedown into Kamenov's guard.
Kamenov is controlling Prime's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kamenov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Prime is one step ahead there.
Kamenov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Prime on the ground.
Prime is stalling in the full guard.
Prime postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kamenov is looking for a sweep. Prime is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Prime is keen to just control but Kamenov is a slippery customer.
Kamenov is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at 3Band MMA ($800/week), so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Prime seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Prime stops Kamenov from getting back to his feet.
Kamenov is trying to get back to full guard.
Prime tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kamenov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Prime shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Prime showed some decent athleticism there.
Prime keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Kamenov has hold of Prime's hands but Prime slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Prime seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kamenov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kamenov wants to control but Prime is keeping busy.

Rodimus Prime dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Prime fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kamenov to the ground. Prime is now in Kamenov's guard.
Kamenov wants to get back to his feet but Prime passes into half guard.

Rodimus Prime has got the better of the ground game so far.
Prime frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prime trying to control but Kamenov is having none of it.
Kamenov is looking to improve his position but Prime isn't that keen on the idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kamenov tries to lock up and control but Prime gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Prime has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kamenov is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kamenov has given up his back here.

Kamenov is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Prime gets his way!

Kamenov tries to escape but Prime has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Kamenov turns into Prime and is now in his guard.
Prime not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kamenov postures up and lands a big shot to Prime's brow.

Prime is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kamenov is aware though and is defending well.

Kamenov stands and steps away. Prime gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Prime has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kamenov uses from the top position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rodimus Prime showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Prime is trying to force a seperation but Kamenov has the dominant position.

Prime manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Kamenov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Prime decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Kamenov kicks off Prime and gets to his feet.
Prime gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Kamenov gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Prime is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
