Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aki Hiko (ranked 747 p4p, 32 weight class) and Big Dog (ranked 680 p4p, 30 weight class). Dog is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The 2 Bears - Bear Hug. Aki Hiko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aki Hiko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Big Dog!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Hiko does no damage.
We've been told by Hiko's head coaches at Five Round Fight Club NY (50 max) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A jab from Hiko does it's job there.
Dog throws a head kick that misses
and Hiko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hiko looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hiko lands a leg kick that knocks Dog off balance momentarily.
Dog with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Big Dog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hiko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dog uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Good leg kick by Dog there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

It looks like Aki Hiko has been cut.

Dog pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hiko is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

and Hiko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dog won't be happy with that.
The ground and pound from Hiko seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

That was a close round but I would say that Aki Hiko will probably get the nod.

Dog felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Aki Hiko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hiko takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Dog throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hiko appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Hiko lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Dog takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Hiko slips a straight right by Dog.

Hiko is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Dog thuds a left hand into Hiko's body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hiko crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dog - the referee stops the clock and Hiko gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dog. Hiko manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dog.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dog thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hiko is looking to counter punch.
Dog fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hiko tries to counter with a takedown but Dog is quick to defend against it.

Nice uppercut lands for Hiko. That snapped Dog's head back.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dog throws a looping overhand right but Hiko ducks down to avoid it.
Hiko clobbers Dog with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Big Dog.
I think Dog has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
