PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Baeddan MacAuliffe (ranked 2302 p4p, 248 weight class) and DooHo Choi (ranked 3062 p4p, 321 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think MacAuliffe might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Notorious by Duran Duran. DooHo Choi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Baeddan MacAuliffe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, DooHo Choi!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choi looks to throw the jab but MacAuliffe is out of range.
Choi throws a lazy right hand but MacAuliffe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

MacAuliffe feints and as Choi raises his hands in defense, MacAuliffe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
MacAuliffe won't allow Choi to get back to his feet.
MacAuliffe passes Choi's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

MacAuliffe is working for a submission of some sort.
MacAuliffe is keen to just control but Choi is a slippery customer.
MacAuliffe is really struggling to control Choi but he's trying to hold on to the position.
MacAuliffe prevents Choi from standing back up.
Choi is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Ground and pound from MacAuliffe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Choi tries to push off, looking to stand up, but MacAuliffe manages to move to mount!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Choi wants to get back to his feet.

MacAuliffe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Choi is looking to escape.
Choi is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

MacAuliffe looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Choi wants to get back to his feet.

MacAuliffe looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Choi tries to buck MacAuliffe off but he can't manage it.

MacAuliffe has control of Choi's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Choi regains control of the situation pretty easily.

We've been hearing good reports from MacAuliffe's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
MacAuliffe lands a big shot there that rocks Choi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

MacAuliffe postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Choi in real trouble here! The ref calls for Choi to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
