Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Padilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucas Cordeiro!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Padilla showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cordeiro.
Cordeiro blocks a head kick by Padilla.
Cordeiro dives in and grabs Padilla's left leg, looking for a takedown. Padilla pushes down on Cordeiro's head and hops out.
Padilla darts in looking for a takedown but Cordeiro gets double underhooks and turns Padilla into the cage.
Cordeiro tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Padilla defends well and Cordeiro ends up having to push Padilla into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cordeiro shoots in for a takedown but Padilla shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rick Padilla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Cordeiro.
A combination from Padilla does no damage.
Cordeiro tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Padilla defends well and Cordeiro ends up having to push Padilla into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Padilla stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Padilla wants it to stay on the feet.

Cordeiro shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Padilla is trying to defend but Cordeiro finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Padilla has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Cordeiro is on him like a limpet, forcing Padilla back against the cage.

Cordeiro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Padilla throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cordeiro.

Padilla throws an elbow but it misses.

Cordeiro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Cordeiro clinches with his opponent.
Padilla lands a damaging elbow.

Padilla breaks from the clinch.

Cordeiro closes the distance and pushes Padilla back into the cage.
Cordeiro blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Padilla pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Padilla tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cordeiro smiles and moves away.

Cordeiro shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Padilla napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Padilla sneaks out the side door and pushes Cordeiro away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cordeiro gets tackled into the cage by Padilla. Padilla maintains the clinch.

Padilla tightens his grip and picks Cordeiro up, before dumping him to the ground. Cordeiro manages to land in guard.

Cordeiro pushes Padilla off and scrambles back to his feet.
Padilla fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cordeiro on the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cordeiro drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cordeiro throwing strikes from guard but Padilla blocks nicely.
Cordeiro controls from within his opponent's guard.

Padilla looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Padilla is breathing heavily.
Cordeiro prevents Padilla from getting back to his feet.
Cordeiro pushing down on Padilla's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Padilla is trying to control but can't.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Cordeiro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Padilla keeps working.
Padilla might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Cordeiro moves into range and clinches up with Padilla.
Padilla tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cordeiro just stands there and leans against the cage.
Padilla throws a head punch that misses.
Padilla is trying to push Cordeiro away but Cordeiro has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Cordeiro's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rick Padilla will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Padilla shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cordeiro's guard.

Cordeiro has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Padilla is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Padilla utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Cordeiro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cordeiro misses with a takedown attempt - Padilla sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Cordeiro throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Padilla was covering up waiting for the punch and Cordeiro finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cordeiro works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Padilla looking for submissions off his back.
Padilla pushes Cordeiro off but Cordeiro dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cordeiro working the ground and pound from side control.
Padilla strikes from the bottom but Cordeiro takes advantage and advances to full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A nice elbow there by Cordeiro.
Cordeiro tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Padilla really wants to buck Cordeiro off and get back to his feet.
Padilla is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Padilla wants to try and get back to his feet.
Cordeiro lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Cordeiro working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Padilla looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Cordeiro! Submission of the night perhaps?
