Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Paul Irvin (ranked 2095 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Berggren (ranked 2128 p4p, 0 weight class). Berggren has chosen Mozart - Lacrimosa as his entrance music. Sammy Berggren acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 4 losses; Paul Irvin! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Sammy Berggren!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Yves DeLean.

Irvin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Berggren swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Irvin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Berggren is staying active underneath Irvin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Irvin wants to pass the guard but Berggren is defending well.

Let's hope that Berggren has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Irvin wants to free his trapped foot but Berggren is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Irvin wants to take a breather but Berggren is having none of it.
Irvin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Berggren knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Irvin is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Berggren reverses the position - he's now on top in Irvin's guard.

Irvin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Berggren can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Berggren is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've been hearing good reports from Irvin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Irvin has his foot on Berggren's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Berggren works his way back into a safe position though.

Berggren looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Irvin wants to get back to full guard.

Irvin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Berggren defends well.

Irvin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Berggren gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Berggren drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Berggren jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Berggren drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Berggren seems to have locked his on tight now - Irvin screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Berggren, as he picks up the win!
