The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Padilla slips under a jab.
Padilla closes the distance and clinches up with Rapper, looking for a takedown. Padilla pushes Rapper against the cage but Rapper circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Crunch! Rapper slams his shin into Padilla's torso.
A solid body kick from Padilla.
Padilla throws a hook to the side of Rapper's head but Rapper sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rapper drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Padilla defends it well.
Padilla dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Rapper closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Padilla did well to prevent Rapper getting side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rapper wants to take a breather but Padilla is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Padilla stands up over Rapper, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rapper controls Padilla momentarily but Padilla frees himself.

That was a close round but I would say that Rick Padilla will probably get the nod.

Rapper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rapper wants it to stay on the feet.
Padilla lands a nice looking body shot.

Padilla throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rapper was covering up waiting for the punch and Padilla finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Rapper manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Rapper has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Padilla is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Rapper is nestled in close to Padilla, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
