Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Dela Vega!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitehead staying out of range there.

Whitehead gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Whitehead can't break the clinch.
Whitehead wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Whitehead pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Whitehead pushes Dela Vega up against the cage in a clinch.

Whitehead manages to break the clinch.

Dela Vega fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Whitehead sprawls well initially but Dela Vega persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dela Vega looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dela Vega not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Dela Vega decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Dela Vega closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Whitehead to the mat! Whitehead manages to get full guard.
Dela Vega is standing up over Whitehead. Whitehead looks to escape but Dela Vega dives into side control.


Dela Vega thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Whitehead's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dela Vega happy to just control the position for now.

Dela Vega tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Whitehead wants to control but Dela Vega postures up.

It looks like Dela Vega might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Dela Vega is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Dela Vega extends the arm and Whitehead is forced to tap!
