The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Rexson both land. Nice combination.
Rexson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rexson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Alexander eats them both and turns towards Rexson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Rexson lands a two punch combo.
Rexson misses with a few strikes there.
Alexander darts in looking for a takedown but Rexson gets double underhooks and turns Alexander into the cage.
Rexson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Alexander counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Alexander tries to throw a body punch but Rexson avoids it by throwing Alexander back against the cage.
Alexander tries to pull guard but Rexson holds him up against the cage and eventually Alexander drops back down to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alexander effectively controlling the action here.
Alexander tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Alexander jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rexson walks away with a smile on his face. Alexander gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rexson cracks a nice hook into Alexander's ribs.
Rexson throws a combination. Alexander tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rexson misses with a few strikes there.
Alexander tries to counter by clinching up but Rexson breaks away and moves out of range.
Miles Rexson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alexander is defended easily by Rexson.

Alexander throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rexson's waist but Rexson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alexander off to one side.

It looked like Alexander was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Rexson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Alexander tries to clinch but Rexson is having none of it.
Rexson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Alexander doesn't manage to clinch there - Rexson circles away.

Alexander shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rexson pinned against the cage. Rexson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rexson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alexander moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Alexander moves in looking to clinch but Rexson pushes him off.
Left hook, right uppercut from Rexson.
Rexson scores with a three punch combo!
Alexander tries to close the distance and clinch but Rexson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alexander fails to land the takedown.
Rexson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rexson duly obliges.

and Alexander counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miles Rexson dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rexson tries to bum rush Alexander with a series of wild strikes but Alexander uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rexson works over Alexander's head and body with a nice combination.
Alexander will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Left hook, right uppercut from Rexson.
Rexson stalks Alexander and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Alexander's face. Alexander staggers backwards, shaken.
Rexson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Rexson misses with a double jab.
Alexander jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alexander closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Alexander works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Rexson wants to get back to his feet but Alexander is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Alexander is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rexson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rexson has escaped and now he's on top!

Rexson is posturing up here but Alexander has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rexson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rexson has to tap! Slick submission there by Alexander!
