Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Connor Rollins (ranked 7119 p4p, 411 weight class) and Dean Castilo (ranked 5170 p4p, 355 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor Rollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dean Castilo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castilo dives in and scores a takedown into Rollins's guard.

Castilo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rollins is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rollins has escaped and now he's on top!


Castilo looking for a guillotine here but Rollins defends easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rollins working some strikes from top position.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rollins's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Rollins wanted to stand there but Castilo had control of the position.

Rollins is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rollins wants to stand but Castilo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rollins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Castilo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Castilo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rollins gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rollins misses with a two punch combination.
Rollins throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Rollins gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Castilo has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rollins after a bit of a struggle.
Castilo wants a takedown but no success here.
Rollins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Castilo is trying to drag Rollins to the mat but Rollins just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

The referee is keeping an eye on Rollins - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Castilo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rollins smiles and moves away.
Rollins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Castilo keeping moving, preventing Rollins from controlling successfully.

Castilo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rollins haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rollins connects with a good right hand that stumbles Castilo. Castilo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Castilo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rollins as he avoids it easily.

Castilo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rollins fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Castilo leaves Rollins with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rollins pulls Castilo in close to prevent any damage.

Castilo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rollins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Castilo, into his guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rollins wants to stand but Castilo has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Rollins passes to side control.
Castilo tries to bench press Rollins off him but Rollins keeps the position.

Rollins decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Rollins has closed the distance and engaged Castilo in a clinch.

Castilo pulls guard successfully.

Rollins gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rollins tries for a takedown but Castilo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nice shot lands for Rollins.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Rollins!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rollins enables Castilo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rollins manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Castilo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rollins manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Castilo has Rollins in his guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Connor Rollins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rollins seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Rollins misses with a head kick.
Rollins defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Castilo.
Horrible takedown attempt by Castilo or perhaps it was just good defense by Rollins, which made it look bad.
Castilo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rollins.

Castilo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Castilo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Castilo darts in looking for a takedown but Rollins gets double underhooks and turns Castilo into the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well Rollins has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
