Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Blake Wightman (ranked 14539 p4p, 583 weight class) and Steven Kennedy (ranked 3881 p4p, 422 weight class). Wightman comes to the ring accompanied by BFMV-You want a battle(here's a war). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Blake Wightman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steven Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Wightman.
Wightman walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kennedy checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kennedy wants to clinch.
A slapping leg kick lands for Wightman.
Kennedy lands a nice shot to the body.
Wightman moves out of range of the body kick.
A counter left hand to the body from Wightman misses its target.
Wightman scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
A combination from Wightman does no damage.
Kennedy sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kennedy takes a kick to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kennedy takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Wightman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kennedy.
Wightman throws a sloppy head kick and Kennedy moves out of range easily.
Kennedy cracks Wightman with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wightman looks to throw a body kick
and Kennedy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Wightman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A low kick from Kennedy is predictable there
and Kennedy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sloppy strikes from Wightman. Those never looked like landing.
Kennedy follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Kennedy throws a front kick aimed at Wightman's knee but Wightman avoids it well.
Kennedy throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Wightman counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wightman buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Kennedy has closed the distance and engaged Wightman in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wightman.
Kennedy blocks the elbow strike.
Wightman misses with an elbow over the top.

Wightman misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kennedy is trying to break free.
Kennedy trying to control the position but instead, Wightman has worked for underhooks and has pushed Kennedy into the ropes.

Kennedy breaks from the clinch.
Blake Wightman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wightman blocks a low kick nicely.
An inside leg kick lands from Wightman.

Wightman closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends Kennedy crashing to the mat! Kennedy uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!


It looks like Steven Kennedy has been cut.
Kennedy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Wightman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kennedy scrambles back to his feet.
Wightman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wightman walks into a straight right hand from Kennedy.
Kennedy moves out of range of the leg kick from Wightman.
Kennedy pushes Wightman away with a front kick.
The crowd cheers as Kennedy lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wightman doesn't seem phased though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

letting Kennedy counter with a right hand.
Kennedy looks to land a body kick but Wightman moved away.
Kennedy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kennedy lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Kennedy tries to clinch there but Wightman circles away.
Kennedy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wightman moves away.
Wightman throws a leg kick that is checked
and Kennedy counters with a good low kick that Wightman was not able to check.
Kennedy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wightman loads up on a big right hand but Kennedy slips the punch.
Wightman throws an overhand right that lands on Kennedy's shoulder, as Kennedy tries to avoid the shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Kennedy counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wightman thinking.

Kennedy tries to land a front kick but Wightman steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Wightman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Wightman lands with a hook. Kennedy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Wightman moves forwards but Kennedy connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Wightman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kennedy appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Kennedy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wightman was well out of range. Poor timing from Kennedy.

Wightman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kennedy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Thud! ouch! good body kick from Wightman - that will leave a mark!

Wightman swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kennedy tries to land a leg kick but Wightman saw it coming and moves away.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Wightman throws a right and a left that Kennedy avoids nicely.
Kennedy turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Well Wightman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
