The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mars moves into range and clinches up with Lyons.
Lyons trying to land knees to the body.
Mars blocking some punches.
Lyons throws an elbow that misses.

Mars pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lyons shoots in for a takedown but Mars shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lyons fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mars fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lyons to the ground. Mars is now in Lyons's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mars wants to pass the guard but Lyons is keeping the position.
Mars wanted to stand there but Lyons had control of the position.

No joy there for Lyons, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Lyons fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mars sprawls well initially but Lyons persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lyons's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Zane Lyons.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lyons, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
