PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gomu Gomu (ranked 435 p4p, 14 weight class) and Diarmuid Curry (ranked 252 p4p, 8 weight class). Curry has chosen Epic Celtic Music as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diarmuid Curry!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomu avoids the body shot from Curry.
Gomu lands a slapping body shot.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Gomu ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A telegraphed right hand from Gomu misses the target.
Curry has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Gomu slips under a jab.

Gomu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gomu lunges at Curry with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Curry's hand.
Gomu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gomu connects with a nice looking jab.

Curry throws a poor cross that misses
and Gomu counters with a straight right hand.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gomu.
The fight stays on the outside here - Curry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A decent looking cross lands there for Gomu.
Gomu missing with a left hand there. Curry was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Curry moves forwards but Gomu connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Gomu takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Curry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gomu moves away.

and Gomu counters with a stiff right hand.
Gomu connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Curry's hands.
Gomu misses with a wild body shot.
Gomu misses with a left hand
enabling Curry to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Gomu Gomu has been cut.
Curry throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gomu stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Gomu sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Gomu takes a kick to the side of the head.
Curry is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gomu scores with a hook to the body. Curry takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Curry cracks Gomu with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Curry has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Gomu to stand back up!

Gomu is rocked!

Gomu Gomu's cut is getting worse.
Curry throws a pinpoint strike between Gomu's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Gomu crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Curry scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Diarmuid Curry!
A relieved looking Diarmuid Curry thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
