Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simo Ahvenus (ranked 3081 p4p, 326 weight class) and Betrdanu Son (ranked 1896 p4p, 228 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simo Ahvenus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Betrdanu Son!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ahvenus feints and as Son raises his hands in defense, Ahvenus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ahvenus is working Son over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ahvenus has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Our spies down at at Ferocious beast inform us that Son has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Son working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ahvenus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ahvenus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ahvenus working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Ahvenus sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Son's guard.

Ahvenus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simo Ahvenus dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Ahvenus shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Son is trying to defend but Ahvenus finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ahvenus scores with a big shot! Son's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Son! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simo Ahvenus!
