Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafik Arfah (ranked 24094 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Smith (ranked 3640 p4p, 386 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rafik Arfah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Smith!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Arfah as he avoids it easily.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Arfah misses with a lunging right hand

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Arfah seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith throws an elbow that misses. Arfah uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Smith's guard. Nice move by Arfah!

Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Arfah is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arfah is pushing down on Smith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Smith is fighting to maintain full guard but Arfah has managed to sneak the leg through.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smith bucks up and tries to throw Arfah off but instead Arfah has got his back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Arfah throwing wild punches that miss their target.

Smith is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.

Smith changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Arfah looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Arfah saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rafik Arfah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Smith.
Arfah stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Arfah slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.

It looks like Rafik Arfah has been cut.
Arfah might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Arfah manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.

Smith tries to kick Arfah off in order to stand up. Arfah Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Arfah is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Smith tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Smith closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Arfah to the mat! Arfah manages to get full guard.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Arfah works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Arfah is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Arfah throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smith goes for a double leg but Arfah avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Arfah continues to drive forward.

Smith feints the counter takedown.
Arfah misses the jab.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Arfah shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Arfah is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Arfah. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.
Arfah throws a leg kick that misses.
Dan Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Arfah gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smith to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Arfah lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Smith wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Arfah.

Smith is squirming around, avoiding Arfah's attempts to control the action.
Smith is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Arfah trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Smith really wants to buck Arfah off and get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Rafik Arfah showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Arfah has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
