PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chet Manley (ranked 3804 p4p, 0 weight class) and WoW WoW (ranked 7365 p4p, 0 weight class). Manley kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Danger Zone. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chet Manley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, WoW WoW!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manley clinches with his opponent.
WoW misses with a hook to the ribs.
Manley is pushing WoW up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Manley will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning WoW up against the cage.
Manley effectively controlling the action here.
Manley stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Manley just leaning against WoW, taking a breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Chet Manley.
Manley tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but WoW swivels and escapes.
Manley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but WoW avoids it really well and circles away.

Manley tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but WoW defends well and Manley ends up having to push WoW into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chet Manley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Manley ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Manley darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Manley frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Manley wants to control the pace but WoW is squirming around nicely.

WoW prevents Manley from taking his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Manley with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

WoW is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Manley looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Manley is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. WoW can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Manley is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, WoW has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Manley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. WoW defends it nicely.
WoW throws out a counter right but Manley avoids it with no problem.
Manley shoots in but WoW avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from WoW! But no joy.
WoW looks to clinch

and Manley counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Well, if Manley is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
WoW is trying to stand up here but Manley is controlling him well.
WoW really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Manley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Manley tries to pass the half guard into mount. WoW knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
WoW is looking to escape.
Manley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that WoW can do to turn this around?
Manley is looking to advance position but WoW won't allow it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Manley in particular looking to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Manley shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts WoW as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chet Manley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Manley looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for WoW!
WoW wants to get back to his feet.
A lull in the action here.

Manley passes to full mount! That's big trouble for WoW!

WoW is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

WoW defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Manley.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if WoW can do anything to dispel that myth.
WoW has given up his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Manley is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but WoW has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Manley is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. WoW is defending well though. Manley let's go of the attempt for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chet Manley dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from WoW enables Manley to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. WoW manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Manley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Manley advances position into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
WoW prevents Manley from moving into mount.

Manley is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. WoW knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

WoW is trying to stand.

Manley wants to control the pace but WoW is squirming around nicely.
Chet Manley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Manley controlling the pace for now.
WoW has given up his back.
Manley really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for WoW.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
WoW WoW has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Chet Manley showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Manley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
