PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dorian Perry (ranked 24953 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Schrader (ranked 7190 p4p, 0 weight class). Schrader has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dorian Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kendall Schrader!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Perry lands an impressive looking overhand right. Schrader doesn't seem phased though.
Schrader looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Perry closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Schrader trying to remain calm as Perry controls from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Perry tries for a kimura but Schrader is defending well.

Perry tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Perry has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Perry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Perry happy to just control the position for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Perry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Perry moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Perry throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Schrader tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Perry is in Schrader's guard.

Perry drops back looking for a leg! Schrader is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schrader manages to kick Perry off! Perry jumps back into Schrader's guard.

Perry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Schrader is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Perry is controlling him.
Perry is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Perry scoring with some ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Perry connects with a couple of short punches.
Perry distracts Schrader with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Perry's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Schrader gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Perry to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Perry stands up and waves to Schrader to follow him.

Perry throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Schrader tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Perry is in Schrader's guard.
Perry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Perry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schrader on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schrader is breathing heavily.
Perry has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Perry chips away with some ground and pound.
Perry seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Perry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schrader swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Perry stays in close to Schrader's body and controls the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Perry lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Perry scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Some wild striking there from Perry.
Perry scores with a one two! Schrader had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Perry feints a jab promting Schrader to slip. Perry then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Schrader slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Perry throws a combination. Schrader tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Perry moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Perry throws a series of punches but Schrader avoids them all with ease.
Perry stuffs the takedown.
Perry is looking to counter the offense by Schrader and move into the clinch.
Jab, jab by Perry - just one landing.
Perry throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Perry looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dorian Perry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Schrader is pressing down on Perry's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Perry not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Perry scores with a one two! Schrader had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Perry looks to land a combination. Schrader sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Schrader gets caught napping as Perry dives in and scores a takedown. Schrader manages to retain guard.
Perry content to stall in guard here.

Schrader looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Schrader is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Schrader has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Perry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Perry is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Schrader looking for a sweep. Not yet Schrader, not yet.
Perry trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Perry!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Schrader takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A right-left combo lands from Perry.
Perry swinging wildly here.
Schrader is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Schrader is defended easily by Perry.
Perry went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dorian Perry showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Perry has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
