Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Koichi Kamei (ranked 689 p4p, 85 weight class) and Sergey Burenkov (ranked 2513 p4p, 280 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Koichi Kamei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamei dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

I was talking to Kamei's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Kamei is trying to force a seperation but Burenkov has the dominant position.

Burenkov darts in looking for a takedown but Kamei gets double underhooks and turns Burenkov into the cage.
Burenkov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kamei defends well and Burenkov ends up having to push Kamei into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Burenkov dives in and grabs Kamei's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kamei pushes down on Burenkov's head and hops out.
Kamei was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Koichi Kamei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergey Burenkov.

Burenkov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burenkov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kamei keeps working.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Burenkov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kamei steps in with a hook that catches Burenkov right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Kamei follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Burenkov looks absolutely devastated.
