The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaffney tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jiro swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gaffney on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Gaffney takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gaffney takes a swing at Jiro's ribcage but misses.
Jiro was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Jiro lands a lovely overhand right.
Gaffney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jiro's waist but Jiro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gaffney off to one side.
Jiro dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jiro lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Gaffney takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jiro scores with a hook to the body. Gaffney takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Gaffney throws a leg kick but Jiro checks it.
Gaffney takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gaffney tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jiro connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jiro connects with a right hand. Gaffney shakes it off.
Ken Jiro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jiro scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gaffney throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Jiro makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Gaffney dives in and scores a takedown into Jiro's guard.
Jiro is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Gaffney dives into side control.
Jiro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jiro tries to get out of the position.

A lull in the action here.

Gaffney has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Gaffney closes the distance and clinches up with Jiro, looking for a takedown. Gaffney pushes Jiro against the cage but Jiro circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ken Jiro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Gaffney.

Jiro's corner calls for a 1-2. Jiro obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Ken Jiro dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Gaffney throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gaffney is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Gaffney had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jiro defends it easily.
Jiro wants to pass the guard but Gaffney is keeping the position.

Gaffney is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Jiro is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Gaffney jumps into side control!

That was a close second round but I would say that Ken Jiro will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jiro, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
