Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Avila Alvarez (ranked 3236 p4p, 343 weight class) and Joseph Telushikin (ranked 3193 p4p, 340 weight class). Alvarez's entrance music is Barbarian by The Darkness. A fine choice. Avila Alvarez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 33 - 3, fighting out of London, Avila Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Telushikin!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Telushikin shoots in looking for a takedown. Alvarez tries to sprawl out of it but Telushikin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alvarez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Telushikin shoots in for a takedown but Alvarez shows good takedown defense.
Alvarez drops down looking for a counter takedown but Telushikin sprawls and moves away.
Alvarez lands with a nice combination. Telushikin backs away looking to recover.
Alvarez darts in looking for a takedown but Telushikin gets double underhooks and turns Alvarez into the cage.
Telushikin dives in for a single leg takedown but Alvarez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Alvarez seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Telushikin closes the distance and clinches up with Alvarez, looking for a takedown. Telushikin pushes Alvarez against the cage but Alvarez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A little jabbing left from Telushikin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Telushikin tries to bum rush Alvarez with a series of wild strikes but Alvarez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
As Telushikin tries to get set, Alvarez tries to push him back and clinch up but Telushikin manages to avoid the attempt.
Telushikin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alvarez is fending him off so far but Telushikin persists. Nope, Alvarez circles away and we're back to standing.

Alvarez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Telushikin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Alvarez postures up in Telushikin's guard and throws a big left but Telushikin blocks it.

Telushikin seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Alvarez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Telushikin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alvarez, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Telushikin is in close to Alvarez's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Telushikin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Telushikin slips nicely into half guard.

Alvarez manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Alvarez tries to clinch but Telushikin moves out of range.
Telushikin shoots in but no luck this time.
Telushikin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alvarez as he avoids it easily.
Telushikin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Alvarez to score with a decent uppercut.

Alvarez lands a leg kick that knocks Telushikin off balance momentarily.
A clash of legs there as Alvarez blocks the low kick.
Telushikin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Telushikin feints and as Alvarez raises his hands in defense, Telushikin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Alvarez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Telushikin is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Telushikin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Telushikin drives through with a takedown into Alvarez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
