Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mack Griffin (ranked 24494 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kristian Marchington (ranked 4724 p4p, 0 weight class). Mack Griffin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mack Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kristian Marchington!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marchington shoots in and gets a takedown into Griffin's guard.
Marchington throws a strike but Griffin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Marchington is trying to keep Griffin in close.
Marchington tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Marchington throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Marchington manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Griffin manages to get himself to full guard.

Marchington wanted to stand there but Griffin had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marchington missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Griffin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Marchington tries to free his leg and advance position but Griffin is retaining full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Griffin is on top in guard.

Marchington wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Griffin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Marchington has his foot on Griffin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Griffin works his way back into a safe position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Griffin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Griffin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Marchington dives on top into guard.

Marchington wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.

Marchington has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Griffin is proving hard to escape from.

Marchington tries to free his leg and advance position but Griffin is retaining full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

It looked like Griffin was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Marchington swats away the attempt to clinch by Griffin.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Marchington misses with a two punch combination.

Marchington moves into range and clinches up with Griffin.

Marchington escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Marchington gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Marchington pulls Griffin into guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Marchington has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Griffin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Marchington is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Griffin is in close to Marchington's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Marchington working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Griffin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Griffin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kristian Marchington dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Marchington throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Marchington bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Marchington wants to control but Griffin is keeping him busy.
Griffin wants to control but Marchington postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin stops Marchington from passing to mount.
Griffin tries to bench press Marchington off him but Marchington keeps the position.

Marchington stands up and beckons Griffin to his feet.

Marchington closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marchington lands in his opponent's guard.

Griffin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Griffin lands with a punch from half guard.
Griffin thows a huge punch but Marchington dodges it nicely.
Griffin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Griffin fails with a takedown attempt.
Marchington is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Griffin with a body shot.

Marchington decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kristian Marchington showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Griffin avoids the head kick by Marchington.
Griffin went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Griffin closes the distance and clinches.
Griffin tries for a takedown but Marchington manages to get underhooks.
Griffin is looking to break free of the clinch but Marchington has double underhooks.

Marchington ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Marchington no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin throws a big right hand that misses.
Griffin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marchington works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Griffin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Marchington shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Griffin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on Griffin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Marchington works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Marchington wants to stand but Griffin has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Griffin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Griffin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Marchington wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.
Griffin pulls Marchington in close to his closed guard and prevents Marchington from doing any damage or advancing position.
Marchington is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Well Marchington has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
