Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Kappa (ranked 2804 p4p, 282 weight class) and Kill Phil (ranked 6148 p4p, 435 weight class). Kill Phil is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Kappa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kill Phil!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Phil shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Phil throwing shots but Kappa is blocking nicely.
Kappa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Phil's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Phil's back!
Phil has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kappa is looking for the choke from the back position but Phil is controlling his hands well.

Phil wants to control his opponent's hands but Kappa gets his hands free.

Kappa goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Phil escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Phil is looking to take a break and control but Kappa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kappa is pressing down on Phil's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Kappa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Phil can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Phil passes Kappa's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Phil wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kappa keeps working.
Phil thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kappa's head.
Kappa wants to get back to full guard.

Phil is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Phil is looking for a kimura but Kappa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Phil to get the leverage.
Kappa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phil throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Phil is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kappa is just riding it out for now. Phil eventually gives up the hold.

Phil is looking for a kimura but Kappa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Phil to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Phil is thwarting Kappa's attempts to control the position.
Kappa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Phil is trying to work for a kimura but Kappa is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kappa tries to get to full guard but Phil has control of the leg.
Kappa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kappa.
Phil trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kappa pulls Phil in close to prevent any damage.
Phil wanted to stand there but Kappa had control of the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Phil stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kappa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kappa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Phil gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Phil accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kill Phil dominated that round.
That's time! Kappa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Phil tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kappa lands with an overhand left.
Phil shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kappa defends it nicely.
Phil shoots in and drives through. Kappa sprawls well.

Phil closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kappa's guard.

Kappa looking for a guillotine here but Phil defends easily.
Phil has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kill Phil has got the better of the ground game so far.

Phil wants to work for an arm triangle but Kappa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Phil is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Kappa to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Kappa has his feet on Phil's thighs here. He's pushed Phil off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Phil screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
