Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Cain (ranked 1518 p4p, 196 weight class) and Lodzov Hugs (ranked 1930 p4p, 232 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lodzov Hugs!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hugs looks to land a combination but Cain avoids it well.
Cain bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Cain lands with a straight right. Hugs didn't see that one coming.
Hugs shoots in for a takedown but Cain shows good takedown defense.

Hugs closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cain quickly recovers to half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hugs working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Cain is not content to let Hugs control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hugs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cain keeps working.
Hugs wants to free his trapped foot but Cain is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cain is not content to let Hugs control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Cain circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cain jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Hugs misses with a body shot.
Hugs blocks a jab.
Cain tries a head kick but it misses.
Cain really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cain moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hugs fails with a takedown attempt.
A counter left hand to the body from Cain misses its target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hugs throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cain on the side of the head.
Cain throws a shot from downtown. Hugs moves away and avoids it.
Hugs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cain swats him away and circles back towards the center.
David Cain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cain throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Cain misses the shot to the body.
An inside leg kick from Cain misses.
A countering left hand to the body from Hugs misses.

Cain gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hugs to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Cain is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hugs is controlling him.
Hugs passes into half guard.
Hugs is trying to control. Cain wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hugs might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cain haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hugs is stalling here. Cain is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hugs seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cain has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Hugs tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cain wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hugs wants to control but Cain postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cain gets to mount! Hugs was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hugs is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lodzov Hugs will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cain listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Hugs blocks the body kick.
Hugs throws a head kick that misses.
Cain takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Hugs instigates a clinch.

Cain breaks from the clinch.

Hugs moves into the clinch.
Hugs drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cain pulls his leg out and moves away.

Hugs forces Cain back against the cage and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hugs digs a right hand into Cain's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Cain's gas tank.
Cain prevents a body shot from Hugs.
Cain blocks an elbow strike from Hugs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cain gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hugs.
Hugs keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Cain's efforts to push away.
Hugs jumps guard but Cain turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Our sources have told us that Cain has been working on his elbows in the gym.
David Cain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lodzov Hugs.
Hugs missing with knees to the body.
Cain tries to circle away but Hugs has him pinned against the cage.
Cain is trying to break free.
Cain blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hugs looking for a takedown.
Cain blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Cain breaks from the clinch.
Cain's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Cain duly obliges.


It looks like Lodzov Hugs has been cut.
Cain fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hugs has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
David Cain is winning the standup battle so far.
Hugs throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Cain counters with a stiff right hand.

Cain cracks Hugs with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Hugs looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Cain finish him?


Hugs is rocked!
Cain closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Hugs out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). David Cain!
