PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Super Meat Boy (ranked 755 p4p, 39 weight class) and Mark Kerr (ranked 195 p4p, 12 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Super Meat Boy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meat Boy throws a right and a left that Kerr avoids nicely.
A nice side step and Kerr releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Meat Boy fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kerr.

It looks like Super Meat Boy has been cut.
Meat Boy looks to throw the jab but Kerr is out of range.
Meat Boy scores with a sloppy right hand. Kerr should have avoided that one.
Meat Boy shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kerr swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

A solid leg kick lands there for Meat Boy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Kerr counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kerr with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Meat Boy to score with a decent uppercut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kerr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Meat Boy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kerr controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Meat Boy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kerr throws a big right hand that misses.
Kerr tries to free his leg and advance position but Meat Boy is retaining full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kerr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kerr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kerr passes Meat Boy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kerr trying to control the action but Meat Boy is working from the bottom.
Meat Boy is doing well to control the position and prevent Kerr from advancing to side control.
Kerr wants to advance to full mount but Meat Boy doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Kerr throws an elbow that misses. Meat Boy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kerr's guard. Nice move by Meat Boy!

Kerr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Meat Boy has hold of Kerr's hands but Kerr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kerr working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Kerr uses his free foot to push down on Meat Boy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Meat Boy.

Kerr can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Meat Boy is looking to escape.
Kerr sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Super Meat Boy's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Mark Kerr decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
