The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kuwabara tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Punchy defends well and Kuwabara ends up having to push Punchy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kuwabara cracks Punchy with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Kuwabara tries to sprawl but Punchy drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kuwabara is pressing down on Punchy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Kuwabara has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Punchy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Punchy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kuwabara has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Punchy has managed to get both his arms back between Kuwabara's legs - danger averted.

Kuwabara has momentary wrist control but Punchy slips an elbow through the middle.
Kuwabara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kuwabara isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Punchy stacks Kuwabara on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Punchy!
