The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sosa keeps the fight on the outside.
Weinstein tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sosa swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice sprawl there from Sosa as Weinstein shoots in.

Weinstein closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weinstein wants to control but Sosa is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sosa tries to stand but Weinstein is controlling from the bottom.
Sosa with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Sosa is in close to Weinstein's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Weinstein will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Weinstein can do anything to dispel that myth.

Weinstein stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Weinstein wants it to stay on the feet.
Weinstein goes for a double leg but Sosa avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sosa continues to drive forward.

Weinstein has Sosa pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Sosa manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Sosa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sosa is looking to stand up but Weinstein isn't so interested in that idea.
Sosa has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Well Sosa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
