The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garrett looks to land a combination. Hale sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Hale fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Garrett to the ground. Hale is now in Garrett's guard.

Hale stays in close to Garrett's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Garrett wants to sweep here but Hale controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hale throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Garrett works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Craig Garrett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hale tries a head kick but it misses.
Garrett throws a shot to the body.
Hale takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Garrett throws a series of punches but Hale avoids them all with ease.
Garrett swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hale.
A combination from Garrett does no damage.
Hale tries to counter with a clinch but Garrett shakes him off and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Hale. No joy for Garrett on that attempt.

Garrett bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Hale darts in and clinches Garrett up against the cage.

Hale tightens his grip and picks Garrett up, before dumping him to the ground. Garrett manages to land in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Garrett is looking to work some ground and pound but Hale has wrist control.

Garrett stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Hale throws up his legs and catches Garrett in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Garrett tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Hale! That came out of nowhere!
