Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Rocket (ranked 6386 p4p, 548 weight class) and Demir Balic (ranked 3723 p4p, 417 weight class). Demir Balic has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Rocket!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Demir Balic!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rocket lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Balic at a distance.
That kick from Rocket tenderised Balic's leg. Balic is trying to keep his angry face on.
Rocket wants to clinch.
Rocket throws a lazy head kick
and Balic makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Rocket really felt that one!
Rocket darts in looking for a takedown but Balic gets double underhooks and turns Rocket into the cage.
Balic shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rocket sprawls well. Rocket wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Balic gets slowly back to his feet.
Rocket ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Balic looks winded!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rocket closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Rocket manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Rocket looking to control.
Rocket wants to sweep here but Balic controlling him for the moment.
Rocket lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Rocket has control of Balic's left arm, preventing Balic from doing any damage.
Balic trying to control the position from guard on top but Rocket is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rocket is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Balic shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rocket pinned against the cage. Rocket gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rocket shoots in looking for a takedown but Balic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rocket's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rocket fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Rocket. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Balic closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rocket did well to prevent Balic getting side control.
Balic looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Rocket on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rocket tries to get out of the position.
Rocket wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Rocket dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Rocket moves into the clinch.
Rocket jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Balic walks away with a smile on his face. Rocket gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Balic rushes Rocket and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Balic wants a takedown but no success here.

Rocket has hold of one of Balic's legs. Balic is fighting the takedown attempt but Rocket gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Balic keeping moving, preventing Rocket from controlling successfully.

Rocket gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Balic closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rocket can't do much from the bottom here.
Rocket is looking for a sweep.
Balic is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rocket is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Balic off and has taken his back!
Rocket just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rocket is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Balic wants to control his opponent's hands but Rocket gets his hands free.
Balic tries to escape but Rocket has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Rocket really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Balic.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rocket throwing damaging strikes from the back! Balic could be in trouble here!
Balic trying to control but not successfully.
Rocket struggling to keep hold of the position.
Balic is really stuck here.
Rocket knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Balic on the ground.

Rocket working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Rocket keeps control of the position easily here as Balic tries to buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Rocket shoots in but Balic avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Balic tries to keep at a distance but Rocket has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rocket drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rocket breaks from the clinch.

The fight stays on the outside here - Rocket looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rocket darts in looking for a takedown but Balic gets double underhooks and turns Rocket into the cage.

Rocket clinches up against the cage.

Rocket is fighting off a takedown attempt but Balic is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rocket to the mat. Rocket regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Rocket wriggles free and stands up.
Balic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Balic closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rocket's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Balic won't allow Rocket to get back to his feet.
Rocket is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Balic decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rocket, up you get!

and Rocket counters with a nice double leg into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rocket's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rocket controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Balic utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rocket chips away with some ground and pound.
Rocket sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Rocket trying to control the position from guard on top but Balic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

And that's the end of the fight!
Johnny Rocket showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rocket has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
