Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Arones (ranked 671 p4p, 82 weight class) and Tony Monteiro (ranked 409 p4p, 54 weight class). Arones comes to the cage accompanied by Lonely is the night. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Arones counters with a left to the body.

and Monteiro counters with a flying knee that drops Arones!
Monteiro wants to get up but he can't break Arones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Arones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Monteiro can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Arones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Monteiro sprawls well. Monteiro wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Arones gets slowly back to his feet.

Monteiro takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Arones throws a big counter combination but Monteiro scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Monteiro tries to close the distance and clinch but Arones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Arones misses with a takedown attempt - Monteiro sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Arones throws a lazy right hand but Monteiro sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Despite the aggression on Monteiro's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Arones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Monteiro's waist but Monteiro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Arones off to one side.
Arones misses with an uppercut. Monteiro saw that one coming.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Arones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monteiro keeps working.
Monteiro is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Arones asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Arones tries to score with some ground and pound. Monteiro controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Monteiro pushes Arones away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Arones gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Monteiro is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Monteiro counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Gabriel Arones has been cut.
Arones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Monteiro stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Arones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Monteiro manages to avoid it.
A little jabbing left from Monteiro on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Monteiro enables Arones to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Monteiro manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Arones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
