And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beau Tucker!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Correa misses with a takedown attempt

and Tucker counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Correa!
Correa is looking to regain half guard here but Tucker keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Correa tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Tucker presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Correa can't escape the position.

Tucker takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

My spies in Valhalla MMA inform me that Tucker has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Tucker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Tucker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tucker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Correa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tucker pulls his head out easily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tucker in particular looking to stall.
Tucker uses his free foot to push down on Correa's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Correa.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tucker breaks from Correa's wrist control and lands an elbow.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Tucker shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tucker showed some decent athleticism there.
Tucker is taking a breather. Correa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Tucker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Correa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Correa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tucker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tucker's back!

Tucker is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Beau Tucker has got the better of the ground game so far.

I really don't envy Tucker right now.

Correa patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Correa is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Tucker has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Correa is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Tucker is defending well though. Correa let's go of the attempt for now.
Correa is not going to allow Tucker to sit and survive in this position.

Correa sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Tucker taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marcos Correa!
Marcos Correa retains his lightweight title!
Marcos Correa decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
