Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Donnie O Brien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ritchie Swiper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Brien comes to the cage accompanied by Rocky Road to Dublin. Swiper has chosen High Hopes as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Donnie O Brien !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Ritchie Swiper!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swiper misses with a jab, cross combination.
Swiper throws a wild body kick that O Brien sees coming a mile off.
O Brien moves out of range of the strikes.
Swiper misses with a head kick.

O Brien looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Swiper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
O Brien slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Swiper escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. O Brien gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Swiper seems keen to control O Brien 's posture.

Swiper is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
O Brien lands a big shot there that rocks Swiper but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
O Brien lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, O Brien cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


O Brien swats away the attempt to clinch by Swiper.
Swiper throws a head kick that misses.
O Brien walks into a straight right hand from Swiper.
Swiper misses with a series of wild punches.
Swiper doesn't manage to clinch there - O Brien circles away.
O Brien scores with a sloppy right hand. Swiper should have avoided that one.
O Brien misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Swiper bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Swiper tries to close the distance and clinch up but O Brien swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Swiper fakes high and swings low for a body shot but O Brien manages to avoid it.

O Brien bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Swiper is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Swiper tries to escape but O Brien is in control.

O Brien is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Swiper can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Swiper wants to hold on but O Brien pushes him away.
Swiper is bucking up trying to escape but O Brien cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Swiper tries to lock up and control but O Brien gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Swiper is breathing heavily.
Swiper is in a horrible position here. O Brien smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
O Brien pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
O Brien trying to control but Swiper is having none of it.
Swiper is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

O Brien is landing with some decent strikes but Swiper is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
O Brien lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

O Brien swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Swiper is now in O Brien 's guard. A big mistake from O Brien there, giving up the dominant position!

O Brien is pushing down on Swiper's leg trying to pass to half guard. Swiper is fighting to maintain full guard but O Brien has managed to sneak the leg through.
Swiper is in trouble now - O Brien has advanced to mount!
O Brien wants to control the pace but Swiper is squirming around nicely.

O Brien goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Swiper is on top in guard.
O Brien manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Swiper manages to get himself to full guard.

Swiper has his feet on O Brien 's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Swiper takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Swiper pulls out of a head kick attempt.
O Brien misses with a few strikes there.
O Brien walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ritchie Swiper is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Swiper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Swiper misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

O Brien lands a nice forearm strike.
O Brien staying calm.
O Brien lands an elbow.
O Brien is looking to take a break and control but Swiper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Swiper is trying to get back to his feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Swiper is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.

O Brien wants to free his trapped foot but Swiper is holding on for dear life with his legs.

O Brien stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Swiper swivels though and keeps the full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Swiper throws a body punch but O Brien moves out of range.
Swiper misses with a head kick.

O Brien closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - O Brien lands in his opponent's guard.
O Brien with a flurry of punches that miss.
O Brien postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Swiper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Swiper is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
O Brien passes Swiper's left leg - he's now in half guard.
O Brien scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
O Brien takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
O Brien wants to pass the guard but Swiper is defending well.

Donnie O Brien had his way with Ritchie Swiper in that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Swiper throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
O Brien looks for a takedown but Swiper sprawls well.
Swiper has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Swiper throws a front kick that sends O Brien stumbling back into the cage.
Swiper cracks O Brien with an open hand slap.
Swiper throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
O Brien will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Swiper throws a left and a right that both miss

and O Brien counters with a nice double leg into guard.

O Brien drops back, looking for a kneebar! Swiper looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Swiper looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Swiper!
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Swiper works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

O Brien is trying to escape the position but Swiper is controlling the position.
O Brien gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
O Brien tries to get to full guard but Swiper has control of the leg.
O Brien is working hard here to advance position.
Swiper wants to take a breather but O Brien is having none of it.
O Brien is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Swiper has hold of O Brien 's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and O Brien manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
O Brien pushes down on Swiper's leg and manages to get into half guard.
O Brien is keen to just control but Swiper is a slippery customer.
Donnie O Brien is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
O Brien is really struggling to control Swiper but he's trying to hold on to the position.

O Brien seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for O Brien , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
