Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sherlock Holmes (ranked 6252 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Russo (ranked 4563 p4p, 385 weight class). Joshua Russo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Holmes forces Russo back against the cage and clinches.
Russo tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Holmes's elbow.
Holmes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Russo to keep the fight standing.
Russo is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Holmes wants a takedown.
Russo is pressed up against the cage. Holmes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Russo down to the mat. Russo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sherlock Holmes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Holmes moves into range and clinches up with Russo.
Russo wants to get back to striking at distance but Holmes won't allow it.

Holmes jumps into guard, dragging Russo to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holmes keeping moving, preventing Russo from controlling successfully.
Russo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Holmes lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Holmes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Russo's guard.
Holmes is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holmes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Russo wants to hold on but Holmes pushes him away.
Holmes controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee warns Russo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Russo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Holmes looking to control and managing it successfully.
Holmes is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Holmes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Russo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Holmes is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Russo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Holmes won't let Russo get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Holmes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Holmes lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Russo hang on?

This is a sustained period of stalling by Holmes.
Holmes continues to hold on tight.
Holmes lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Russo is rocked!
Holmes looking to finish Russo with some ground and pound. This is bad for Russo!
Russo is still in real trouble! Can Holmes finish him?

Russo takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Holmes's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
