PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kron Silva (ranked 175 p4p, 28 weight class) and Elmore James (ranked 1532 p4p, 198 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kron Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elmore James!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James scores with a one two! Silva had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Kron Silva has been cut.
James misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming.
James throws a lazy right hand but Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
James avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
James bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Silva's head backwards.
A low kick from Silva misses
and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
James slips a jab from Silva.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Silva dives in and grabs James's left leg, looking for a takedown. James pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
James swinging wildly here.
Good exchange - James coming out on top.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Silva lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
James throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
James throws a hook to the side of Silva's head but Silva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James looks to land a left hand but Silva moved out of range nicely.
James throws a poor cross that misses

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. James fights it but they end up in guard.

Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
James is trying to keep Silva in close.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
James looks to land a left hand but Silva moved out of range nicely.

and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kron Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Silva moves away.
Silva walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. James checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James scores with a nice strike.
James misses with a leg kick

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.
James felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
James gets back to half guard.
Silva content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
James is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Silva not doing much here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Silva staying out of range there.
James uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Silva.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elmore James dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kron Silva's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

James might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Nice uppercut there from James.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jab, jab by James - just one landing.
Silva ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but James sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kron Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and James makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James scores with the left hand. Silva knows he should have avoided that one.

Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.

and James counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Silva! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Elmore James!
A relieved looking Elmore James thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
