Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Gomes (ranked 1050 p4p, 130 weight class) and Omero Hyuyu (ranked 6548 p4p, 538 weight class). Gomes comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Thunderstruck . Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Gomes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Omero Hyuyu!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyuyu throws a left and a right that both miss

and Gomes counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gomes slows the pace down in half guard.
Hyuyu is trying to stand back up but Gomes is controlling him
Gomes tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hyuyu knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gomes stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gomes is working for a kimura but Hyuyu is defending it quite comfortably.
Hyuyu wants to improve his position but Gomes is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomes moves into full mount! Hyuyu won't be happy about that!

Gomes seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hyuyu for as long as he can get away with.
Hyuyu is looking to get to half guard.
Gomes looking to control and managing it successfully.
Gomes looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Hyuyu can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomes controlling from the full mount.
Hyuyu is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Hyuyu tries to hold on but Gomes postures up.
Gomes sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Gomes works his way to his opponent's back.

Gomes has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hyuyu has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyuyu is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hyuyu can't escape the position.
Gomes controls the position.
Hyuyu tries to break free.

Gomes has managed to slip his arm under Hyuyu's chin. This could be all over... yep, Hyuyu is tapping out! Submission win for Gomes.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Gomes!
A very excited looking David Gomes made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
