PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Bangsit (ranked 66 p4p, 11 weight class) and Antonio Mauricio DeSilva (ranked 143 p4p, 27 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 18 - 2, fighting out of London, Andy Bangsit!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Antonio Mauricio DeSilva!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeSilva connects with a single shot there.
DeSilva throws a leg kick but Bangsit checks it.
DeSilva throws a head kick but Bangsit moves out of range.
Bangsit appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
DeSilva lands with a hook. Bangsit tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

and Bangsit counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
DeSilva told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Bangsit wants to pass to mount but DeSilva is defending the position.

Bangsit is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so DeSilva is just riding it out for now. Bangsit eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close round but I would say that Andy Bangsit will probably get the nod.

Bangsit shoots in looking for a takedown. DeSilva tries to sprawl out of it but Bangsit keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DeSilva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DeSilva swings and misses with a hook to the body.

DeSilva is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bangsit crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from DeSilva - the referee stops the clock and Bangsit gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says DeSilva. Bangsit manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

DeSilva attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
DeSilva catches Bangsit with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bangsit moves out of range of the strikes.
DeSilva lands a nice looking body kick.
Bangsit tries to clinch but DeSilva is having none of it.
DeSilva fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bangsit manages to avoid it.

Bangsit closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. DeSilva did well to prevent Bangsit getting side control.
Andy Bangsit overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

DeSilva pushes Bangsit off looking to stand but Bangsit dives back in and keeps control.
