Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mungo Jerry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Murphy!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Jerry lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Shane Murphy has been cut.
Shane Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Murphy fails in his attempt to clinch.
Murphy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Jerry paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Murphy has taken the fight to the clinch.

Jerry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jerry jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Jerry has picked Murphy up - he's going for a ride! Jerry dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Jerry tries to stand but can't do so whilst Murphy controls his leg.
Jerry trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Jerry stops Murphy from getting back to his feet.
Murphy wants to control but Jerry is keeping busy.
Murphy has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
It looks like Jerry is going to stand back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Murphy closes the distance and pushes Jerry back into the ropes.

Murphy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Jerry paws at him with a jab and circles away.
It looked like Jerry wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Murphy is looking to clinch.
Jerry tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Murphy manages to circle out of the way.
Danga de danga de dang - Jerry scores with a four punch combination!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jerry tests Murphy's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jerry throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Murphy fails to land the takedown.
Murphy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jerry looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Murphy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jerry sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Mungo Jerry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Murphy.

and Jerry cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Jerry avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Murphy wants to clinch

Jerry gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jerry gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Jerry stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Jerry cracks a nice hook into Murphy's ribs.

and Jerry counters with a crisp one two that drops Murphy! Jerry thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Murphy to his feet! Murphy is in big trouble!


Murphy is rocked!


That has opened up Shane Murphy's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jerry dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Murphy has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Mungo Jerry!
