Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Norman (ranked 2100 p4p, 267 weight class) and John L Sullivan V (ranked 582 p4p, 81 weight class). Norman comes to the ring accompanied by Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as John L Sullivan V enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, William Norman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John L Sullivan V!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan V pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Norman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sullivan V throws out the jab.
Norman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sullivan V defends it nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Norman is trying to work for a kimura but Sullivan V is defending well.

Sullivan V looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Sullivan V felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Norman seems to be looking for submissions.
Sullivan V gets back to full guard.

Norman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sullivan V has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Norman has managed to get both his arms back between Sullivan V's legs - danger averted.

Sullivan V working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Norman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Norman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sullivan V has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Norman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sullivan V can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Norman controls the pace.
Sullivan V is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sullivan V might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Norman haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Norman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Norman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Norman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Norman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Sullivan V stuffs the takedown attempt from Norman. Norman gets slowly back to his feet.
Norman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sullivan V sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Norman somewhat.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Norman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sullivan V thuds his right hand into Norman's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

A slow jab from Sullivan V misses its intended target.
Norman was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Norman takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Norman.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Norman crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sullivan V - the referee stops the clock and Norman gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sullivan V. Norman manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sullivan V is stalking Norman. Norman circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Sullivan V, and it's lights out! Norman really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John L Sullivan V!
