Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buster McDiggle (ranked 1659 p4p, 215 weight class) and Robert McKenna (ranked 1401 p4p, 187 weight class). McKenna has chosen Freedom as his entrance music. Robert McKenna is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Buster McDiggle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert McKenna!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKenna closes the distance and pushes McDiggle back into the cage.
McKenna blocks an uppercut.
McDiggle scores with a shot to the side of McKenna's head.

McKenna breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McKenna uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McDiggle has time to react.


It looks like Buster McDiggle has been cut.

McKenna gets in close and instigates a clinch.
McKenna working some nice short punches in the clinch.
McDiggle blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A nice left hand lands by McDiggle.
McDiggle is trying to stall.
McDiggle's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
McDiggle blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
McDiggle misses with a hook to the ribs.
McKenna scores with a shot to the side of McDiggle's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A head punch on the inside from McDiggle fails to land.
McDiggle misses with some punches.
McKenna looking to slow down the pace here.
McDiggle struggles to land a body shot inside as McKenna controls his hands.

McKenna turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and McKenna manages to end up in side control.
McKenna trying to control the action but McDiggle is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McDiggle sneaks back into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDiggle gets back to full guard.

McDiggle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McKenna wants to control from the top but McDiggle keeps moving.
McKenna is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
McKenna won't allow McDiggle to sweep him here.
McKenna works a leg free and moves into half guard.
McKenna trying to control the action but McDiggle is working from the bottom.
McDiggle won't allow McKenna to pass to mount.

McDiggle is in trouble now - McKenna has advanced to mount!

McKenna looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
McDiggle is squirming around, avoiding McKenna's attempts to control the action.
McDiggle manages to regain half guard. Good work.
We've been hearing good reports from McDiggle's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
McKenna looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
McKenna wants to lay and pray for a moment but McDiggle keeps working.
McKenna looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
McDiggle trying to control from the bottom.

McDiggle is pressing down on McKenna's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
McDiggle can't keep his opponent in guard - McKenna advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
McDiggle tries to get to full guard but McKenna has control of the leg.
McDiggle is working hard here to advance position.
McKenna is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
McDiggle is refusing to be controlled, as McKenna sits in half guard.
McKenna tries to pass to full mount but McDiggle defends it.
McKenna prevents McDiggle from improving his position.
McKenna is looking to take a break and control but McDiggle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McDiggle is trying to get back to full guard.

McKenna wants to pass the guard but McDiggle is defending well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McKenna connects with a nice short shot to McDiggle's temple.
McDiggle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McDiggle on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
McDiggle is not content to let McKenna control the position.

McKenna has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can McDiggle defend it? McKenna steps over the head and cranks it - McDiggle is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McKenna!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Robert McKenna!
