Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Moganesh Jain (ranked 397 p4p, 22 weight class) and Branimir Simeon (ranked 644 p4p, 35 weight class). Branimir Simeon will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moganesh Jain!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Branimir Simeon!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simeon steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jain.
Jain lands with a good body shot.
Jain with a hook.
Branimir Simeon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simeon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jain moves away.
Jain attempts a counter takedown but Simeon avoids it well and moves away.

Jain drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Simeon is looking to control Jain's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Simeon avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jain is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Simeon has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jain is looking to take a break and control but Simeon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jain seems to be looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jain has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Jain goes for an armbar but Simeon turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Simeon.
Simeon told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Simeon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Simeon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jain, up you get!

and Jain counters with a shoot takedown. Simeon fights it but they end up in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Simeon is staying active underneath Jain, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jain works his way into side control.

Jain working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Jain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Simeon has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jain is looking to take a break and control but Simeon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jain fails with the takedown.
Jain is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Simeon can do to turn this around?
Simeon misses the shot to the body.
Jain throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Simeon misses with a looping left.
Jain throwing a counter right hand but Simeon manages to avoid it.

Simeon has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jain finds it's way round the side to connect with Simeon's head.

Jain wants to improve his position but Simeon is controlling well.
Jain has a hand on Simeon's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Simeon takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Jain sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Jain keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Jain trying to control but Simeon postures up.
Jain moves into full guard.

Jain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jain looking to control.

Jain had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Simeon defends it easily.
Simeon trying to control the position from guard on top but Jain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Simeon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jain wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Simeon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jain is on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Moganesh Jain will probably get the nod.
That's time! Jain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Simeon rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jain counters with a nice uppercut.
Jain looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Simeon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jain's head backwards.
Jain uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Simeon.
Jain misses with a hook to the body
and Simeon counters with a straight right hand.
Simeon connects with a single shot there.

Jain gets the takedown into side control.
Moganesh Jain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jain looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Jain wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Simeon, who protects the arm well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Simeon tries to bench press Jain off him but Jain keeps the position.
Simeon gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Jain has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Simeon is forced to tap!

Branimir Simeon spoke after the fight, saying 'Thanks for coming...I'll be back'.
