PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Floyd Maybetter (ranked 2979 p4p, 339 weight class) and Darrel Petersen (ranked 1893 p4p, 235 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maybetter might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Don't Stop The Funk. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Floyd Maybetter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Darrel Petersen!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maybetter pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Petersen back to the cage. Maybetter follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Maybetter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Petersen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
It seemed like Petersen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Maybetter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Petersen pinned against the cage. Petersen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Petersen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maybetter.
Petersen throws out a loose jab but Maybetter uses good head movement to avoid it.
Maybetter on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Maybetter takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Petersen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Maybetters jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Petersen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Petersen dips to his left and cracks Maybetter with an uppercut!
Maybetter throws a body punch but Petersen moves out of range.
Petersen throws a body shot but no joy.
Maybetter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Petersen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maybetter somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Floyd Maybetter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maybetter looks to throw the jab but Petersen is out of range.

Petersen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Maybetter has time to react.
Petersen wants to clinch.
Petersen scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Petersen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Petersen throws a body shot but no joy.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Maybetter.
Petersen just misses with a punch to the body.

Maybetter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Petersen wants to sweep here but Maybetter controlling him for the moment.

Maybetter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Petersen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Maybetter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Petersen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maybetter, into his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Petersen is controlling Maybetter's trapped leg to prevent Maybetter from advancing to side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Petersen is looking for a sweep. Maybetter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Maybetter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

It looked like Maybetter was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Petersen.

Petersen stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Darrel Petersen has been cut.

Maybetter sizes up Petersen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Petersen shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck for Maybetter with that takedown attempt.

Maybetter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Petersen.

Petersen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Maybetter pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Maybetter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Petersen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well Petersen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
