Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gobal Batra (ranked 603 p4p, 79 weight class) and Spencer Rubenstein (ranked 341 p4p, 47 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Gobal Batra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spencer Rubenstein!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batra throws out a leg kick but Rubenstein moves out of range and Batra only half commits.

Batra throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gobal Batra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A clash of legs there as Rubenstein blocks the low kick.

Rubenstein has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Batra feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rubensteins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Batra takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Rubenstein connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Batra's hands.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rubenstein takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That kick from Batra tenderised Rubenstein's leg. Rubenstein is trying to keep his angry face on.
Batra looks to land a right hand but Rubenstein moved out of range.
Batra throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Rubenstein counters with a stiff right hand.
Batra looks to land a body kick but Rubenstein moved away.
It seemed like Rubenstein was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Batra throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Batra lunges at Rubenstein with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rubenstein's hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rubenstein throws the left hand but Batra avoids the punch easily.

Batra fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Rubenstein with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Batra to score with a decent uppercut.

Batra has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Batra throws a push kick but Rubenstein slaps the foot to one side.
Batra throws out a loose jab but Rubenstein uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rubenstein let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Batra is looking to clinch but Rubenstein is avoiding it.

Rubenstein is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Batra.
Batra throws a hook to the side of Rubenstein's head but Rubenstein sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rubenstein drops back, looking for a kneebar! Batra looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Batra looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Batra!

Rubenstein is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Batra asserts his dominance and retains side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Rubenstein wants to get back to his feet but Batra is dominant here and he's now got Rubenstein's back!
Rubenstein is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Batra.
Batra has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Batra uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rubenstein has time to react.

Batra will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Rubenstein closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Rubenstein takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Rubenstein takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

and Rubenstein connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Batra is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rubenstein can do to turn this around?

Rubenstein is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Batra is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Batra has escaped and now he's on top!

Gobal Batra is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

and Batra takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Rubenstein counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Batra out cold! What a finish! Rubenstein is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!
